Vegan Skincare Anyone?
A lot of us don’t know what vegan skincare is. You’re not alone. In a recent survey carried out on our Instagram stories, 80% of our followers weren’t sure what vegan skincare was.
It’s appearing on beauty labels, in magazine articles and becoming more and more important to ‘A’ listers’ beauty routines. Does it really matter if our hand soap or face moisturiser is vegan or not?
Here’s what you simply need to know about vegan skincare.
Vegan skincare does not contain any animal ingredients or animal derived ingredients. This includes beeswax, lanolin, collagen, gelatine, honey and many others. In other words vegan skincare is made from plants and minerals and other safe synthetic ingredients.
Vegan skincare is rich in vitamins filled with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Ingredients lists are often shorter in vegan skincare products, which means these products typically contain less ingredients that lead to skin irritations such as eczema, acne and other dry skin conditions.
The benefits of vegan skincare appear to follow the same benefits that a vegan diet tends to hail. Vegan skincare is a personal choice, but it seems to be a choice more of us is making.
